Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct USV maritime operations Risk Assessment and toolbox talks
  • Ensure the safe launch and recovery of USVs
  • Mobilisation and demobilization of the USV
  • Create lift plans for USV mobilisation/launch and recovery
  • Carry out USV predeparture checks
  • Make local pilotage plans accounting for local conditions / liaison with ROC pilots regarding passage planning
  • Monitor the USV performance on mission
  • Maintain the integrity of communication systems
  • Liaison with local authorities
  • Maintain logs during operations / maintain inventory on site
  • Carry out routine servicing and mechanical maintenance tasks on the USV
  • Pilot the USV on a local controller
  • Pilot the USV from a local operation centre
  • Pilot support vessels and daughter craft
  • Hand over the USV to remote operations centre Act as primary point of contact for the ROC dealing with comms
  • Carry out 3rd party support vessel audits
  • Prepare towing procedures
  • Lead execution of emergency drills
  • Comply with Company safety rules and training, conduct operations safely and report any unsafe condition or practices immediately
  • Ensure shore locations LSA/FFA/SOPEP and lifting equipment is kept in good working order and serviced.

Key Skills

  • Good understanding of maritime regulations
  • Excellent boat handling skills
  • Genuine interest in maritime autonomy and future technologies
  • Willing to travel internationally as required by the project
  • Must have basic computer skills

Qualifications & Experience

  • OOW/CoC or commercially endorsed RYA Advanced Power boat or Yacht Master certificate
  • Experience in survey operations preferred
  • Experience on work boats/small vessels preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain all industry required certificates to work offshore
  • Must be able to obtain a valid passport and/or visas to travel internationally
  • Experience piloting USVs preferred
  • Valid industry safety certification (STCW, GOW or equivalent)
  • Valid driving licence
